Generally, the islands of Hawaii is characterized by two seasons with temperatures that are uniform everywhere, extensive cloudy formations, trade wind flow that is dominant, geographical differences in distribution of rainfall, and a relatively high humidity in most days. Maui, Hawaii is marked by wide range climate patterns and weather conditions which are influenced by a lot of factors.

Physical factors that affect Maui are reflected by its environment in a physical sense. These are:

1.	Maui’s climate is influenced by the strong marine lifestyle precipitated by the insularity of extremes of the islands themselves. Almost half of Maui is located within 5 miles of the coastline of the island.

2.	Maui’s irregular and rugged topography produces to variations of marked conditions differentiated from one locality to another. Air that is swept inlands is shunted in a way by the valleys, slopes which are vastly opened and mountainous tops. Complexity of this three dimensional course results in a difference of distributed winds garnering from one place to another in a terms of rainfall, wind speed and formation of clouds. If topography is irregular and is combined with elevation variations, it marks the difference of temperature in air as an outcome.

3.	Pattern of weather are usually determined by the elevation of the area and depends if it turns away or faces to the Trade winds.

These factors that seem to contradict conjugates to create a diverse and unique set of conditions in climate wherein it results to having a specificity ranging to loosely defined regions of the chain of island. Sub-regions are basically defined by location and by predominant physiologic features. Sub-regions are:

Interior lowlands

These are known to have intermediate categories sharing similar characteristics of other sub-regions. Occasional experience of having intense afternoon showers from a well-developed formation of clouds that are due to the heating of the place during the wake of day.

Windward lowlands

Considered as the area below two thousand feet on the northeast side of a specific island. The region is oriented in a rough perpendicular direction of smooth flowing trade winds. It can be moderately rainy with frequent occurrences of trade wind which induces showers. Compared to other regions, air temperature has a more uniform distribution.

Rainfalls are showers of water which are common within the vicinity although, some may experience lighter or heavier rainfall than most of the places. Some can experience only a brief sprinkle of rain and then it’s sunny again. Rainfall can have an average pour of about 300 inches along windward slopes. Because of Maui’s topography packed with mountainous details, it seldom receives rainfall in overdosage.

On the other hand, summer is the more dominant season that is why rainstorms are rare. Summer is also one of the best reasons why people dominate parts of Maui for vacations and relaxations.

Variations of daily rainfall can most likely occur on a night time or when morning comes. But variability lessens as the afternoon approaches. The occurrences of rainfall can be more prominent during winter season wherein storms may most likely prevail. Because of the swings in rainfall, there are times when drought tends to happen and affects the economic crisis severely. Rainstorms can only be counted therefore droughts may hit hard which is why Maui Hawaii tends to suffer from little or no rainfall at all.

Spend your days strolling the sparkling sands and your nights relaxing on a moonlit beach for your honeymoon vacation in Hawaii. Take a dip in the jewel toned waters of the Pacific or ride the waves atop a surfboard. A Waikiki Beach honeymoon can be a mesmerizing and memorable experience that you will never forget. Here are some Waikiki Beach vacation and hotel tips to help you maximize the fun and excitement of your “personal time in paradise”.

Waikiki Beach hotels rank among the finest in the world and available rooms are quickly booked by eager guests who are planning their dream vacation. Wind, surf, an endless horizon and incredibly brilliant sunsets are all part of life on Waikiki Beach.

With the idyllic backdrop of Waikiki Beach, many hotels on this island are able to offer panoramic ocean views and convenient proximity to the water for those who enjoy surfing, swimming, sunbathing and snorkeling. Choose the activities that are most important to you and then you can select the lodging accommodations that will mesh with these choices.

Of course there is a limited shoreline for all Waikiki Beach hotels to share which means that only some of them can be true oceanfront properties. You may want to check out the locations for each hotel you are considering if you wish to be sure that you are selecting one that at least affords you a direct view of the ocean. Even if you have to settle for one of the beach hotels that is set back away from the sandy shores there are still some good views of the water that will be available.

Near Diamond Head you have several Waikiki Beach hotels from which to choose your reservations. This list includes luxury lodging accommodations at such respected establishments as the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort and the Outrigger Waikiki. If you select one of these places for your vacation stay you will be able to enjoy direct shoreline frontage. For those who dream of an oceanfront room one of these settings will be the perfect choice but remember that the closer to the water your accommodations are the higher the cost will be.

You might want to select a hotel that is located within easy walking distance of the beach if your budget is a top consideration. Many of the hotels that are unable to offer direct beach access have other features to consider such as multiple swimming pools, elegant spa services and close proximity to major shops and restaurants.

When you are looking for good Waikiki beach hotels always check to see if there is any mention of recent upgrades or refurbishing efforts. An older hotel may have been modernized into a lush resort spa on the interior and you might miss out on a great opportunity if you fail to pay attention to the most recently advertised descriptions of the rooms and amenities. Many of the island’s hotels are constantly being remodeled so that they are able to be more enticing to customers.

While you are doing your hotel research you might want to see if there is any current renovation being done at a particular hotel. Some hotels will offer a discount rate to guests while they are conducting partial renovations onsite. You will have to determine if the lower cost is worth the disruption and annoyance of dealing with such a situation.

When you search online you will be able to discover a number of discounted room rates that are available. Some of the lodging accommodations have off season discounts and others feature special package rates. The best way to get a good bargain is to browse through the various offerings before making a final decision. Waikiki Beach hotels can provide you with a wonderful and relaxing stay while you visit Hawaii. It is well worth a little effort to find the perfect one that meets your needs, taste and budget. For some additional Hawaii honeymoon vacation ideas you might consider some of the other islands as well- many good hotels have locations on all areas.

[ ]

Thinking about a gorgeous honeymoon in Hawaii? The Sheraton Waikiki is the perfect place for honeymooners. They have several special packages and online discounts just for those planning on having their honeymoon at the Sheraton.

Are you the looking to honeymoon in a place with tons and tons of attractions located within one place? You might want to consider West Maui, Hawaii as your honeymoon destination. In fact, you may be confused with so many sights to see and wonderful places to visit.

Why not start west? The resorts and relaxation areas in West Maui, Hawaii are some of the reasons why visitors tend to stay a little longer when they honeymoon or vacation there. There is so much to explore: there will be not a single dull day when you’re in West Maui. Here, one of the most famous and historic cities in Hawaii can be found.

Probably, the whaling attractions in the town of Lahaina are one reason why West Maui is so popular. If you’re not a history buff, there are numerous attractions to busy yourself with. This is one of the best places in Maui where you can relax and enjoy your honeymoon time together or even bring your family for a vacation break.

In Hawaii, Lahaina is probably one of the most famous towns. It is second on the list next to Honolulu. During the 1820s, Lahaina was the capital of Hawaii. It held this position until the year 1845. It was in those years that people saw Lahaina as the whaling port of the Pacific. But, other than tourist attractions, ships for whaling are now rare. Now, Lahaina is bustling with shopping malls and vacation activities.

Because of the two most popular resorts in Lahaina which are the Honokowai and Kaanapali, the place becomes crowded with locals and tourists from noon until the late hours of the evening. Due to the proximity of these two resorts, driving around it has become an intense hassle especially by the waterfront. It is frustrating to find a parking spot especially as the evening approaches, and the nightlife heats up.

Historical sites are also popular in Lahaina. Aside from from shopping until you drop and visiting the numerous art galleries, you can also explore Lahaina’s historical sites. A few of these include the Banyan Tree, the Carthaginian which is an old whaling ship, the Baldwin Home, and the Maria Lanakila Church. You can can find many of Lahaina’s other historical spots in guides.

At Puunoa Point, which is located at Lahaina’s northern edge, is the famous Lahaina Jodo Mission which is considered as the home to one of the largest statues of the Great Buddha situated outside Japan. There, you can also appreciate a ninety foot tall pagoda and a majestic temple.

North of Lahaina, just a few miles of travel, is the resort of Kaanapali which served as the home of the Whalers Village. The Whalers Village is popular for its open shopping center that is filled with sumptuous food-serving restaurants and cheap shopping galore.

You can also find the Whale Center of the Pacific which is the museum that celebrates the Whaling Era circa 1825-1860. Whalers Village, which is located at Kaanapali Beach, gives you the widest opportunity to admire parasailers, boogie boarders and surfers who are frolicking in the waves of the beautiful beach resort.

In Hawaii, you can amuse yourself with numerous sights and activities that will spell fun and relaxation for the two of you. West Maui, Hawaii is the perfect honeymoon getaway to find peace and leisure at the same time.

Visiting Maui, Hawaii for your honeymoon destination? Make a complete stop over at Hana. From Kaanapali, going to Hana is one consuming and tiring trip which can be regarded as increased in time consumption and mileage. Although, a trip to Maui wouldn’t be complete without being on the Hana Highway.

To avoid being caught up traveling in a flaring afternoon, better pack your things early and leave even before the sun rises. This will give you more time to plan what to do because it is an assurance that you won’t be back till evening falls. Time travel is affected due to the numerous curves which are very sharp indeed and those fifty plus single bridges that will definitely come your way, but most of all, you need a lot of time because of the several stops that you have and which you wouldn’t want to resist doing.

It is recommended that you are equipped with the right mapping and instructional equipments when traveling through rough roads because you might have some difficulty in going to that point. Although, you need not worry because in terms of traveling, it is definitely safely incorporated with the sharp curves and fixed single-bridged roads. By the time you have figured out the twists and turns and how to outrun it, you can already compete with Gran Prix races.

While traveling, you will start to appreciate different sights like one of the popular Ke’anea Peninsula. This portrays just one of the most wonderful sights going to Hana. Don’t hesitate to travel down the peninsula and before you leave, catch a glimpse of the taro fields. You may also want to take a quick reroute to the Pua’aka’a Park wherein a beautiful waterfall is at its core.

Encounter the famous black sand beach which is located at the Wai’anapanapa Park. Inside the park, walk down into the lair of the lava tube right beside the beach. You will catch a marvelous view from the tube out into the ocean. If you are someone who loves picturesque and unique scenes, this is your spot.

If you leave by dawn, there is a possibility that you’ll arrive in Hana at noon just right for lunch. One of the hotels that has the loveliest and most enticing setting wherein you can relax yourself for the night is Hotel Hana-Maui. If you have no plans on staying a little longer, you can eat a sumptuous meal at Hana Ranch Restaurant.

After a much deserved meal, feast your eyes with beautiful works of art at the Hana Coast Gallery which is known for being one of the well-appreciated galleries in the heart of Hawaii. Being energized from lunch gives you more reason to take a 3-mile hike to the Fagan’s Cross that is perched on a high hill that is just above the soil of Hana. You will have a breathtaking view of the harbor of Hana and the coasts nearby.

The entire trip will have a total of 180 miles. This encompasses the trip from West Maui going to Hana and around the southernmost part of East Maui. The trip may give you some hard time manipulating your vehicle and getting to one place in very sweaty underpants but hey, it’s worth the travel. Your experience can’t be replaced by just sitting in one corner and moping about how dangerous the curves are. You will never regret visiting Hana in Maui, Hawaii and that is an assurance.

Amongst the multiple islands that Hawaii has, Maui is considered as the seventeenth largest island within the vicinity of the United States. It is the also the 2nd largest island included in the Hawaiian group of islands with about 727.2 sq. miles. Maui is affiliated with the state of Hawaii. Maui belongs to Maui County which also has there other islands along it namely: Kahoolawe, Molokai and Lanai. The four islands combined together will bring you Maui Nui.

It was in the year 2000 that Maui’s population bloomed to 117,644. The town that has the largest population within Maui is Kahului and is also considered as the largest town, whereas Wailuku is known as the seat of the county of Maui.

How Maui Got its Name

In early times, the Native Hawaiians claims that the origin of their island’s name came from the legend of the Polynesian navigator, Hawai’iloa. He was the one who is responsible for the attribution of Maui’s discovery. According to the legend, Hawai’iloa named his son after the demigod named Maui. Maui, as the demigod, raised the islands of Hawaii from the depths of the sea. Maui Island is also known as “Valley Isle” because of the great isthmus which is in between two volcanoes.

A Dose of History

Originally, the Polynesians were the ones who populated Maui. They came from the Marquesas and the Tahiti. The core of the culture of Hawaii came from the kapu system which was introduced by the Tahitians. The kapu system was a social system that strictly affected the entire aspects of life of the people of Hawaii.

During the mid-1700s, a modern history for Hawaii was paved. It was the time of the Battle of Kepaniwai when King Kamehameha I resided and made his mark in the place of Lahaina after conquering Maui in the year 1790.

The first European explorer who saw Maui was Capt. James Cook that was in November 26, 1778. Back then, Cook never had the chance to set foot on the island’s surface because it was difficult for him to find a more suitable spot to land his vessel. Then the French under the authority of Admiral Jean Francois de Galaup de La Perouse who was considered as the first European who had the opportunity to visit Maui followed. He landed on the now known La Perouse Bay that was on May 29, 1786. After that historical event, more Europeans followed and established a more productive part between them and the people of Maui.

One of the bands of Europeans who came to Maui was the missionaries who made several changes for the natives of the island to follow. The missionaries were responsible for the banning of hula dancing and affected the lives of the natives to a greater extent. The missionaries were also the ones who taught the natives on how to become more civilized. They shared their knowledge on things like writing and reading which resulted to an alphabet that consists of the 12 letters. Missionaries started a printing press which brought about the written history of the people of Maui. In an ironic sense, the missionaries preserved and altered most of the native’s culture.

Maui, Hawaii began to be involved centrally in the height of the Pacific Theatre which staged World War II. This became a center for relaxation, rest and a training ground. Beaches of Maui were used for training and landings of marine sabotage and demolition.
